How To Make Specific Links Nofollow In PHPBB Using BBCode? [Solved]

Postby Atish Ranjan » Wed Jul 27, 2016 7:57 pm

Ever since I installed PHPBB, I tried my best to know how to make particular BBCode URLs nofollow. In HTML, it is very simple to do by adding rel="nofollow" but BBcode is different.

Then my friend Durgesh helped me fix the issue.

And the issue is finally SOLVED!

I had to create a New BBCode through Admin Control Panel (ACP).

Here is how:

Login to your PHPBB Forum's ACP. Then Click on Posting, and click on BBCode in the left side under Messages.

Click on Add a New BBCode and you will see options to write new BBCode, and define its working using HTML.

In the first box "BBCode usage" , Write the code shown below:

Code: Select all

[nofollow={URL}]{TEXT}[/nofollow]

Note=> In place of nofollow you can use it anything you want. You can even create tag with your name!

In the second box, "HTML Replacement", Write the code shown below:

Code: Select all

<a href="{URL}" rel="nofollow">{TEXT}</a>

Now, at the end you will see "Display on posting page" under settings, Just tick it.

Now click on Submit.

You are done!

Now, you will see, a new BBCode in your forum's text editor. For example, while writing a post on this forum, you can see a tag Nofollow= as you can see below:

Now everytime, when you want to make a link nofollow. Just use this Nofollow tag rather than [URL] tag.

Code: Select all

[nofollow=http://google.com]google[/nofollow]

Just do this, and your link will be no followed.

Cheers!
