What are Site Map and its relevance?

They say we need to create two sitemaps one for the user and the other for search engines. Why is that ?

Sitemap as the name says, is a presentation of your site pages on one single page to let people or search engine know about the site's structure and they can easily navigate through the posts.

Yes, there basically two types of Sitemaps (Moreover there are many like video sitemaps, etc).

First, XML sitemap which is for Search engines. This page tells the complete linking structure and pages on your site to Search Engine which make it easy for SEs to index your pages.

Second, HTML Sitemap which is for Users. YOu need such sitemap when you have a big site. SO that you can place a page where you show all the navigation of your site. Like which pages and posts are in which category.. etc.. everything is shown in a way that makes users work easier to navigate to a specific page or section of your website or blog.

Let me know if you have any confusion understanding this.

Yes for now, you go with only XML sitemap.

You must have Yoast plugin installed on your blog! It creates sitemap automatically if not you need to enable the option in its setting.. Do check here if it is already there example.com/sitemap_index.xml.

If it is there.. you can submit it to your Google search console account!

Hi Leennna,
I can see your sitemap here http://scoopoflives.com/sitemap_index.xml .

This alone should solve your issue. If you want to submit it to search engines, you have to use their webmaster tools and add the URL where it asks for.

That's it you don't have to worry again.

When its comes about optimize your site for SERP, I found XML sitemap as an important member of the Seo family . It really helps to make understand and crawl your webpages easily for the search engines.
As we know Sitemaps are URL inclusion protocols as they refer search engines on what to be indexed or not.
How it helps :

• It Lists all URLs from your Website including pages, that would not have been visible by search engines.
• You can command XML sitemap saying the most important to focus on priority pages.
• You can access Googlebot activity through it.

I don't so much knowledge about site map ,what i know i have shared at here.
Looking forward to hear more on this topic.
Thank you guys
